Arnica

Arnica

Also known as: Arnica Montana, Wundtkraut, Doronic d’Allemagne, Plantin des Alpes

This precious healing flower, kept as a secret by wizards from the mountains, was used by the Romans to heal the wounds from battles. Arnica helps the cicatrization and facilitates the quick recovery of skin tissue, healing wounds and scars, chapped lips, acne, varicose ulcers and even skin cancer lesions.

With anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antiseptic properties, Arnica also contains an immune-stimulant chemical, considered more efficient than Echinacea. Regarded as a miraculous elixir for the immune system, Arnica can be a great help for anyone who gets sick easily, whenever temperature variations occur. A three week cure with Arnica tincture (30 to 50 drops three times a day for a half glass of water) will give a boost to your immune system, while keeping colds and viruses away.

Saxon inhabitants of Transylvania used Arnica tincture for massaging the heart area for 5-10 minutes a day, with amazing effects on heart diseases. Arnica is a natural coronary vasodilator with hypotensive effects and a cardiac tonic.

Beneficial also in mental conditions such as insomnia, neurosis and panic attacks, Arnica can be successfully combined with Valerian or St. John’s Wort, restoring the mind-body balance.

Other uses of Arnica are phlebitis (painful or swollen veins on the surface of the skin), muscle and cartilage pain, painful gums after dental extractions (especially wisdom tooth removal), sore throat and insect bites.

Arnica can be purchased as a tea, tincture, oil extract, cream, gel and is frequently found in cosmetic products, hair-tonics and perfumes.
