Elecampane

A wild herbaceous plant found throughout continental Europe and Asia, Elecampane is a large, handsome plant with bright yellow flowers, resembling sunflower, blooming June to August. Elecampane root was used as a condiment, but also as a medicine by the Romans and legends says it sprang from the tears of beautiful Helen. Solar herb, Elecampane was considered in the magical medicine a plant governed by Jupiter, with powerful antidepressant properties, fighting successfully anxiety and melancholia .

First mentioned by Pliny,  Hops is a climbing, perennial plant, distributed in temperate climates and extensively cultivated in Germany, US, Central Europe, UK, China, New Zealand and Australia. Hops female flowers, also known as cones or strobiles are commonly used as a flavoring agent in beer, due to its characteristic bitter taste and preservative qualities but have also medicinal properties.

Discovered by Gentius, ancient king o Ilyria and used mainly as a poison antidote, Gentian has about 180 species, distributed mostly in high alpine regions of Europe, Asia and America. The best known Gentian species are Gentiana Asclepiadea, Spotted Gentian (Gentiana Punctata), Cross Gentian (Gentiana Cruciata) and a very rare species with yellow flowers, declared a natural monument in Romania called Gentiana Lutea (Yellow Gentian).

Indigenous to Africa and Eurasia,  Rupturewort is a very good choice if you are looking for a dense, smooth evergreen carpet, a lawn alternative or the perfect ground cover. Called also “Green Carpet”, Rupturewort grows slowly up to 4 cm and spreads easily in all directions, each plant being able to cover up to 2 feet. In older times, Rupturewort parts growing above the ground were used as a herbal remedy for ruptures and hernias of the skin.
